Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd. introduced technology called “Android Security Upgrade Android SELinux” at the Autumn show of the ITpro EXPO 2008. Hitachi Software Engineering unveiled a model installed with the security feature called the SELinux security OS in order to independently strengthen the virus security of portable terminals that use the Android platform released by Google for cell phones.

SELinux is advanced technology for strict switching of Linux access rights control. Hitachi Software Engineering has successfully reinforced the security of SELinux while barely working with pattern files and next plans to expand business in cooperation with device manufacturers and customers.

This is Google’s first entry into the mobile phone market with T-Mobile’s G1 set to debut on October 22nd. This phone features the new Google Android OS and will be followed up with phones on Sprint, Verizon and even AT&T.
